Brisbane Suburbs Villa or House?

Looking at buying a 3 bedroom Villa or house on small block of land in Brisbane for an investment initially and then a possible move to the property in 1-2 years. Budget is approx $500,000-$550,000. Thinking Cannon Hill, Carina, Morningside, Camp Hill, Norman Park. Any thoughts on that area and what are your opinions of buying a Villa as opposed to a house? Townhouse won't be suitable as need one level living. Im currently in Sydney and don't have much idea of the Brisbane market. Im a single mum on so don't want a place with a lot of maintenance but want to make the right choice for an investment and home down the track. Thanks.
